The taxonomic study of species in the genus Ocotea Aubl. was carried in the Itatiaia National Park, located in the southeastern Brazil (22\°30\’ e 22\°33\’S; 42\°15\’ e 42\°19\’W), with an area of 30,000 ha. Twenty-three species were recorded: O. aciphylla (Nees) Mez, O. brachybotra (Meisn.) Mez, O. corymbosa (Meisn.) Mez, O. daphnifolia (Meisn.) Mez, O. diospyrifolia (Meisn.) Mez, O. dispersa (Nees) Mez, O. divaricata (Nees) Mez, O. elegans Mez, O. glaziovii Mez, O. indecora (Schott) Mez, O. itatiaiae Vattimo-Gil, O. microbotrys (Meisn.) Mez, O. odorifera (Vell.) Rohwer, O. percoriacea Kosterm., O. porosa (Nees \& Mart.) Barroso, O. puberula (Rich.) Nees, O. pulchella (Nees) Mez, O. silvestris Vattimo-Gil, O. spixiana (Nees) Mez, O. sulcata Vattimo-Gil, O. teleiandra (Meisn.) Mez, O. tenuiflora (Nees) Mez and O. vaccinioides (Meisn.) Mez. Ocotea itatiaiae and O. sulcata are only found in the Parque and twelve species represent new occurrences to the Parque. The binomial O. microbotrys and O. tenuiflora were confirmed to be valid. The taxonomic treatment includes key to identification, descriptions, comments, illustrations, geographical distribution, habitat, common names and flowering and fruiting time for each species.

Here is presented an annotated list and a distribution of the lauraceae of the restingas of Rio de Janeiro\’s federal state, as contribution to the regional flora. Restingas are complex ecosystems of the coastal plain of Brazil. There were found 24 species pertaining to nine genera: Aiouea (1 sp.), Aniba (1 sp.), Cassytha (1 sp.), Endlicheria (1 sp.), Licaria (1 sp.), Nectandra (4 spp.), Ocotea (11 spp.), Persea (2 spp.) e Rhodostemonodaphne (1 spp.). Five new occurrences are annotated for the restingas. Eleven species present some use, distributed in five categories; the most important of them is lumbering.

This paper presents the taxonomic study of the Lauraceae species of the Reserva Biol\ógica de Po\ço das Antas, in the municipality of Silva Jardim, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. The vegetation is characterized as Low - Montane Atlantic Rain Forest, with altitudes until 200 m a.s.l. Botanical material deposited in several herbaria, particularly
those of the Instituto de Pesquisas do Jardim Bot\ânico do Rio de Janeiro, and field observations were made. This investigation detected the occurrence of 25 species in Reserve, distributed into nine genera. The treatment of the family includes morphologic description, comments and illustrations. It is also presented data on geographical distribution, habitat, common names, as well as an analytical key for species identification in the area.

This paper presents the taxonomic study of the Lauraceae species from the Reserva Ecol\ógica de Maca\é de Cima, located in the municipality of Nova Friburgo, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. The vegetation of the Reserve is classified as Montane Atlantic Rain Forest type with altitudes ranging from 880 to 1720 m a.s.l. Supported by botanical collections deposited in several herbaria, particularly those of the Instituto de Pesquisas do Jardim Bot\ânico do Rio de Janeiro, 32 species and nine genera were recognized: Aniba (1 sp.), Beilschmiedia (2 spp.), Cinnamomum (2 spp), Cryptocarya (2 spp.), Endlicheria (1 sp.), Nectandra (3 spp.), Ocotea (18 spp.), Persea (2 spp.), Rhodostemonodaphne (1 sp.). The treatment of the family includes species morphologic description, comments and illustration. Survey also included the gathering of data on species geographical distribution, habitat, flowering and fruitification seasons, uses, as well as an analytical key for genera and species identification in the area. The binomial Ocotea domatiata Mez, O. pulchra Vattimo-Gil and O. teleiandra (Meisn.) Mez were confirmed to be valid. The known geographical distribution of Cinnamomum glaziovii (Mez) Kosterm. and Ocotea urbaniana Mez has been extended. The fruit of O. domatiata Mez and Cinnamomum glaziovii (Mez) Kosterm. was described for the first time.
