Currently (Oct 2013) there are four specimens in the Linnean herbarium online (linnean-online.org):
- LINN 518.12 is what is now accepted as Persea indica (L.) Spreng.
- LINN 518.13 is Nectandra turbacensis (Kunth) Nees
- LINN-HS 707.14 is Persea borbonia (L.) Spreng.; this is the only species that really occurs in "Virginia", but this specimen seems to have been collected after the description of Laurus indica. It bears the inscription "1788 Hort. D. Salisbury".
- LINN-HS 707.5 is what is now accepted as Persea indica (L.) Spreng., but the inscription "du Jardin du Roy" makes it unlikely that this is the type.
