Miscellaneous information:
Rohwer (Mitt. Inst. Allg. Bot. Hamburg 20: 141. 1986) proposed to include many taxa in this species (O. atirrensis, O. cissiflora, O. endresiana, O. floccifera, O. ira, O. martinicensis, O. paulii, O. pedalifolia, O. pentagona, O. rivularis, O. wedeliana, Aiouea lundelliana), but several of them have been recognized as distinct entities by other authors later.
