Additional type data:
Lectotype, implicitly designated by Meissner in DC., Prodr. 15(1): 114. 1864, by exclusion of the second syntype: Guyana. Schomburgk 987 (B 10 0185248, E 00259423, FI 005240, MEL 2390304, U 0002943, P 00756937; fragm. NY 00355698) - see note below.
Miscellaneous information:
Schomburgk 987 is a mixed collection. Meissner (in DC., Prodr. 15(1): 114. 1864) had recognized that there were two different species among the original material, and that the second one (represented by Schomburgk 929 in K 000642347, K 000602248, K 000602249, L 0037119, P 00711161, fragm. US 00048570, and by Schomburgk 987 in BM 000947225, G 00369014, K 000602246, K 000642349, K 000642350, U 0002899) was Nectandra cuspidata. He thus effectively lectotypified the species, but he used an illegitimate name for it, Oreodaphne costulata. The unnumbered collections HAL 0010506, K 000602247 and L 0037120 are likewise N. cuspidata. Both species are mounted together in BM 000603374.
Slightly more robust than typical Ocotea aciphylla, sometimes recognized as a separate species.
