Miscellaneous information:
Nees originally cited two collections: "Crescit in insulis Mascarenis, (Lamarck); in Madagascar, (Herb. Willd.)." In addition, he wrote "Vidi exempl. Herb. Willd.". This allows to consider the specimen in the Willdenow herbarium as the holotype. The Lamarck specimen is also the type of Laurus cupularis var. β Lamarck.
