Miscellaneous information:
In the original publication, Nees did not mention a number of the Sello collection(s). Later (1836) he mentioned the two numbers indicated above. All three syntypes appear to be different species. Meisner (1864) placed the Martius syntype in Oreodaphne japurensis, and the syntype Sello 1381 in Oreodaphne confusa. Rohwer (1986), however, placed both of them in Ocotea neesiana. It remains to be checked what Meisner did with Sello 5800. Mez (1889) effectively lectotypified Oreodaphne dispersa (as synonym of Ocotea dispersa) in the sense of this latter syntype, by exclusion of the others.
