Based on Oreodaphne glauca Nees. Possibly illegitimate; Mez (as previously Meisner) cites Myginda brasiliensis Spreng., Syst. Veg. (ed. 16) 1: 496. 1824 in synonymy. At the time of publication of Ocotea glauca, this would have been the older epithet. In the meantime, however, it has become occupied by Ocotea brasiliensis Coe-Teix. The correct name for this species is very likely Ocotea sylvatica (Meisn.) Mez.
