The original spelling of the epithet was "l'herminieri", but according to Art. 60.10 of the ICBN this needs to be corrected. The Noisette specimen is certainly not from the US state of Carolina. Rohwer (1986) considered this name a synonym of Ocotea portoricensis s.lat.
